Abstract
Bioactivity of botanical pesticide from weed was studied to find the
most effective botanical pesticide for controlling Sitophilus spp. and
maintaining the corn seed viability in storage. The research was a single factor
experiment arranged in Completely Randomized Design. The experiment
factor was kind and dose of botanical pesticide. The treatments of the
experiment consisted of Ageratum conyzoides (goatweed) and Lantana
camara (common lantana) in the doses of 2% ; 4% and 6 % respectively, and
application without pesticide as a control. Botanical pesticide was in powder
formulation. The reasearch consisted of two steps, the first was toxicity test of
botanical pesticide in the storage for 70 days, and the second was seed
viability test after storag for 70 days. The results showed that goatweed
botanical pesticide 6% was the most effective botanical pesticide to control
Sitophilus spp. and maintain the corn seed for 70 days in storage, compared
with goatweed botanical pesticide at the doses of 2% and 4%, and also
common lantana botanical pesticide in the doses of 2%, 4% or 6%.
